SMC Luis E. Alderman, USN Retired

smc_luis_alderman_-_lha4Luis Edward "Ed" Alderman, 69, of Virginia Beach, formerly of Cumberland, passed away March 17, 2007, after a long illness.

Born July 21, 1937, in Cumberland, he was a graduate of Allegany High School and received his Associate's Degree from Excelsior College (SUNY). He was retired from the United States Navy and United States Postal Service.

He leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life and wife of over 50 years, Sharon Geneva Blizzard Alderman; three daughters, Lynn Holman and husband Lawrence, of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Micah Scott and husband Andrew, of Chesapeake, VA, and Jaye Koch and husband Michael, of Virginia Beach, VA, and one son, Ned Alderman, LT, CHC, USNR.

He dearly loved his grandchildren, Joshua T.A. Hicks, Claire E. and Kara C. Scott and Tyson L. Cullen. His sister, Anne Ruehl and husband Jim, of Bowling Green, OH; and
sister-in-law, Mrs. Thomas E. Alderman Jr., of Cumberland, also survive him. He also
had a "special" sister and brother, Judy and Clyde Nave. He is loved and remembered
by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

His parents, Thomas Ellsworth Sr., and Lula Maye Alderman preceded him in death, as well as his brother, Thomas E. Alderman Jr.

Mr. Alderman was a member of Baylake United Methodist Church. He was a Washington Redskins fan for over 40 years. He was a member of Fleet Reserve, Disabled American Veterans and the Bayside Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and working in his beautiful yard.

A funeral service was held at the United Methodist Church, 4300 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, Va.
